Loose DC Jacks Cause Catastrophic Board Arcing
When laptop charging cables are jerked sideways or tripped over, the internal center pin of the DC power jack loosens. This intermittent contact creates micro-arcing that generates temperatures exceeding 250°C, melting surrounding plastic casings and scorching copper power traces on the motherboard.
Our Permanent Hardware Fix
Rather than using temporary hot glue or cheap replacement cables, we desolder the damaged DC socket from the multilayer motherboard using pre-heating plates and temperature-controlled soldering irons. We install an original reinforced socket with leaded solder alloy for superior mechanical shear strength and restore any burnt copper grounding pads with high-current copper braid reinforcement.
